参与建设清远市林草局救护中心，救护在清远受伤的国家一级重点保护鸟类海南鳽等40余只鸟类，经过治疗康复后放归自然。主要栖息于亚热带高山密林中的山沟河谷和其他有水域的地方。夜行性，白天多隐藏在密林中，早晚活动和觅食。食性以小鱼、蛙和昆虫等动物性食物为主。 是中国特产的鸟类，没有亚种分化。在海南为留鸟，其他地方为夏候鸟或旅鸟。属中国国家二级保护动物，被列为全世界30种最濒危鸟类之一。因为极为罕见，海南鳽也被称为“世界上最神秘的鸟”。
