The Qingyuan Chimelong South China Tiger Rehabilitation and Release Base was established in October 2015 with the approval of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration. It is located in Qingyuan City and covers an expansive area of over 6,000 acres. The base serves as a breeding and training facility for the South China tiger, with supporting facilities including an animal quarantine area, a training zone for tiger feralization, an open-range area for poultry and ungulates used in the tiger reintroduction program, and a swan breeding site. The base also actively participates in the South China Tiger Reintroduction Project within Nanling National Park.
